"Performers are always looking for more places to perform. What if New Directions could offer the Warblers a place to do that?Would you guys be interested at all? I mean, I would still have to run it by Mr. Schuester and the rest of the club. They don't even know about the competition yet. But I think it's a great idea. You guys would get more performance experience, and the New Directions can raise money for the competition. Everyone wins right?"
"What do you think, Wes?"
Wes tilted his head, pondering this idea. Yes, the Warblers could always use more rehearsal time. Especially if they were going to win this competition. But if they helped out New Directions, that meant that they were helping their competition. However, if they didn't help them out, then they're was a very good chance that New Directions wouldn't be able to make it to the competition at all. And that would ruin any plan he had of actually beating the other glee club in a competition setting.
"The Warblers could always use more practice. We would have to run it by our other council member first, but he should be okay with it," he added, smirking a little at David. Thad was pretty competitive as well so it was fairly obvious the other boy would agree to this plan. And he was sure Blaine would agree because it would be helping Kurt's glee club get to California. If Blaine and the council wanted to perform, convincing the rest of the group wouldn't be hard. "I think it would be a good idea for our groups to officially perform together."

"The Warblers could always use more practice. We would have to run it by our other council member first, but he should be okay with it,"
Rachel grinned and bounced up and down a little. This was going to be amazing. With the Warblers helping New Directions, they were sure to earn enough money to let them go to the competition in California. "That sounds great! I still have to run the competition by our club, but I'm pretty sure that they will want to go! I mean why wouldn't they right?"
She smiled a little, her thoughts already drifting to songs that she could sing at the benefit concert. And what she could sing at the competition. It was a lot to think about. She was sure Mr. Schue would want to sing another Journey song, but everyone was sick of that. They had sang practically their entire catalog by now anyways. They could write original music again maybe...
Oh. Right. She was still talking with Wes and David. "So, I guess we can exchange numbers and we can talk after we confer with our choirs. I have a good feeling about this. I think our groups get along well," she said, already pulling out her pink phone that had gold star stickers on the cover of it.

David watched as Rachel got lost in her own thoughts in her head. He exchanged a glance with Wes to see if he noticed the same thing. Just as David was about to say something to pull Rachel back into this reality, she seemed to remember that Wes and David were there.
"So, I guess we can exchange numbers and we can talk after we confer with our choirs. I have a good feeling about this. I think our groups get along well."
David smiled and laughed a little as he looked at Rachel's phone. Were those gold stars all over the front of it? And who likes that shade of pink? He found himself wondering what Lucy, his girlfriend, would think of that phone.
"Well, any friend of Kurt's is a friend of ours. He's still considered a Warbler, after all." And he was. Once a Warbler, always a Warbler. That was the rule. They all missed Kurt being in their group. That, and now they had to deal with Blaine being mopey all the time. It got annoying sometimes. But at other times, Blaine made it so cute that he just had to laugh. Really, Blaine seemed like a puppy at times. Especially at the end of the day when he was about to see Kurt.
David smiled and gave Rachel his number. It was only after this moment that he hoped she wasn't the kind of person that sent forwarded chain text messages. Well, she probably wasn't that bad...right?

Right...of course they would want to go... Why would they not? And then Wes had to remember that not everyone was as competitive and concerned about winning like he was. Some things needed to be taken seriously though. He met David's eye as Rachel got lost in her own thoughts. And people thought he was bad. Wes could be incredibly focused yes, but it wasn't too often that he got lost in thought like that.
"So, I guess we can exchange numbers and we can talk after we confer with our choirs. I have a good feeling about this. I think our groups get along well."
"Well, any friend of Kurt's is a friend of ours. He's still considered a Warbler, after all."
Well she certainly had enthusiasm and was passionate that was for sure. And she could sing. But she seemed way too self centered and not as concerned for the group as a whole like Wes usually was. Wes had a good voice, but he knew he wasn't a star like Blaine was. There was a reason Blaine got a lot of the solos. He pulled out his phone and exchanged numbers with the girl, chuckling a little. "I think it would be interesting to see both of our choirs support each other. And if you didn't have the idea first, I'm sure Blaine would have been eager to help out. He can be overly enthusiastic. Knowing him, he might have even volunteered the Warblers without even asking the council first."
He really did know Blaine too well even though he had only known him for a few years. Maybe they hung around each other too much...

Rachel laughed a little at that as she added both of the boys' numbers to her phone and gave them hers number. She could see Blaine doing that. They had become friends after their short lived relationship had ended and Blaine realized that he was 100% gay. They had a lot in common actually being the two soloists for their respective glee clubs. They also had great vocal chemistry together.
"That does sort of sound like him. I'm sure this concert will benefit both groups. I'll tell New Directions all about it after I finish my research on the competition and then I will let you know their answer!" she said smiling and nodding her head as she waved in goodbye and headed out the door. She had a lot of planning to do...

"That does sort of sound like him. I'm sure this concert will benefit both groups. I'll tell New Directions all about it after I finish my research on the competition and then I will let you know their answer!"
David waved slightly as the girl left. Then he couldn't help it any longer, and he just laughed. She was kind of adorable. She was so pumped up about the competition, he had a feeling that she wouldn't let her glee club say 'no.' Although he was pretty sure she would get no opposition from Kurt. He would do anything to be with Blaine.
David looked at Wes and snickered. "Wes?" he asked. "What did we get ourselves into?" He was sure they wouldn't regret the decision to do this concert with New Directions. He was equally sure that Blaine would be all for it, which meant the rest of the Warblers would be all for it.
David made another mental note to check the Warblers histories for joint concerts. He was sure it had never happened. He was excited that his generation of Warblers was able to do something unprecedented and add to the illustrious history of The Warblers. Making his mark on history was something every historian dreamed of, but few every did.

Wes blinked and nodded at the girl as she left as hastily as she had arrived. Well that had been...interesting. He had certainly not been expecting anything remotely similar to that happening when he had woke up this morning...
"Wes? What did we get ourselves into?"
The Asian boy sighed and glanced at his friend and he looked over the Best of the Beach Boys album again. "I don't know David. I just hope that this doesn't turn into a bad idea. The Warblers have got to pull out all the stops for this. We've got to win this. We can break precedents by performing with another glee club and put the Warblers on the map for future Warblers by winning this competition," he said, smirking a little. Everyone knew that Wes liked a little competition. The Warblers this year had already made previous alumni Warblers proud, but Wes was determined to push the group more and really show everyone what the club was made of. Even if they had to sing N'Sync to do it.
"This means that we will also have to pick songs to sing at this concert as well as the competition. And that's even if the club agrees to perform with the New Directions."

David laughed. Of course Wes's mind was right back on the competition. You couldn't distract the boy for long. Of course he would love it if the Warblers won the competition. He loved making Warbler alumni proud of the current class just as much as Wes. He just had different ways of going about it.
"This means that we will also have to pick songs to sing at this concert as well as the competition. And that's even if the club agrees to perform with the New Directions."
David was sure the club would agree. Blaine would see it as an excuse to see Kurt. And if Blaine agreed, the the rest of the club would agree. Suddenly the first part of Wes's statement clicked in his head. They needed music for the concert with New Directions. "Hey, Wes..." David said before he could stop himself. "You know, we could do N'SYNC for the concert with New Directions." He watched Wes for his reaction. He figured that Wes would say no, but it was worth a shot wasn't it?

"Hey, Wes...You know, we could do N'SYNC for the concert with New Directions."
Wes laughed a little and shook his head. He wouldn't expect anything else from his best friend. Ever since the council had agreed to let Blaine sing "Teenage Dream" David had been pushing foe N'Sync more and more. Of course, this was before Blaine played the damn song on repeat for like two weeks straight. It was really hard for Wes to hear the song without rolling his eyes. Blaine had made him hate Katy Perry. He was sure that David felt the same about the pop artist. All Wes had heard about was how Blaine got to sing a song from his favorite artist, so why couldn't they sing a song from David's favorite?
The more Wes thought about it, he could think of fewer and fewer reasons not to sing the song. "That should be okay," he said with a smirk. "You better pick a good one that's going to please the crowd and give the New Directions a run for their money," he said, chuckling a little. He knew the crowd would already be on their side no matter what they performed, but he wanted to show them that the Warblers meant business. They may have won Regionals, but that didn't meant the Warblers were just going to let them win everything.

"That should be okay. You better pick a good one that's going to please the crowd and give the New Directions a run for their money."
David sighed. He should have known better than to ask. He knew Wes would refuse. They sing Katy Perry because Blaine wants too. He said Blaine's name in his head with a certain sneering tone of voice. But the moment David wants to do a song from a particular artist--
Wait what did Wes just say?! They could do N'SYNC? Wes actually agreed. He agreed! David's mind was whirling with possibilities. There were so many. He'd have to go home and think about which one would be best. He was sure the Warblers could do all of the songs that the group did. They were talented enough. He might have to dumb down the choreography for certain members whose names started with the letter 'B' and rhymed with the word 'lane.'
"Oh thanks, Wes! You won't regret this, man!"
David started heading right out the door, without thinking. Well, he was thinking, just not about Wes or the way he came to the store. His mind was alight with ideas for songs for the joint benefit concert. He walked out of the store, not paying attention to Wes.

"Oh thanks, Wes! You won't regret this, man!"
Wes couldn't help but laugh a little to himself as David's expression went from sad and rejected to happy and excited. It really was a little sad. All this just from getting to sing a certain artist? He really needed to get other friends. Alright,he didn't really mean that. He watched David walk towards the door, completely ignoring him. Okay, maybe he did...
"Uh, David - I think you forgot something - " but his friend was already out the door. Never mind. David would figure out that Wes had been the one to drive them here eventually. Wes would let the other Warbler figure it out, he was smart. Wes picked up the Beach Boys CD and made his way to the cash register so that he could buy it. He wasn't going to let today be a complete loss, because he knew that David would be discussing the pros and cons of every song in N'Sync's arsenal for the rest of the day as he picked out one to present to the Warblers. Wes was already beginning to regret this decision...

Slowly the music store door opened. The bell rang as David stepped inside, looking very sheepish. When he got excited about something, sometimes it was hard for him to focus on other things. He had been so excited to hear that Wes would let them do NSYNC at the joint concert that he immediately started going through all of their songs in his head. He had completely forgotten about the fact that Wes had driven here.
David had walked out of the music store and all the way to Wes's car. He only remembered that Wes was his ride when he reached out and tugged on the handle to the passenger side door. So he had to turn and go back into the store he just left. He was pretty sure that people were staring at him. If his girlfriend, Lucy, had been here she probably would have smacked him. Lucy probably wouldn't have even let him get as far as the car. And she would never let him forget this. After all, she never did let him forget any of his random moments like this. She was a fiery red head. David loved being with her. She matched him perfectly in just about every way.
He looked in the section that Wes was in and didn't see him. Surely Wes wasn't hiding from him. He wasn't that childish. Oh wait. There he was. David spotted Wes in line at the cash register. David sidled up behind Wes and cleared his throat slightly.
"Umm..." he stammered. "You drove."

"Umm...You drove."
Wes chuckled and shook his head a bit as his friend entered the store again. He knew that David get carried away and block things out when he was excited about something so Wes hadn't been that surprised. It was pretty funny actually.
"I was wondering how long it was going to take you to figure it out. I almost started a betting pool."
Okay, he would never actually do that in a record store full of people he didn't know. That and what they would be betting on was really stupid. No, if Wes was going to conduct a betting pool, it would be over something that was really important. Like the betting pool he had made to see how long it would take Kurt and Blaine to get together. The one that Thad had won. The one that he was not supposed to have won because Wes and David knew Blaine the best of the Warblers. But no, Thad had to make a stupid guess and win the entire bet. And Thad wondered why Wes and David didn't hang out with him as much...

"I was wondering how long it was going to take you to figure it out. I almost started a betting pool."
David rolled his eyes. He knew Wes wouldn't have started a betting pool here. Not here in a record store where they didn't know anyone. Now if the store had been full of Warblers, that would be a different story. Like the time there was the huge betting pool pertaining to Blaine and Kurt. They had all bet on when Kurt and Blaine would finally become "Klaine." Stupid Thad had one. David liked Thad, but he was annoying sometimes. Especially when he won something on a pure guess. Wes and David knew Blaine the best. They should have been the ones to win. But no! Thad won it on a pure guess. Just luck. And he hadn't let them forget it yet. And Thad wondered why Wes and David didn't hang out with him as much...
David smirked a bit at Wes and said, "Ha. Ha. Very funny Wes." David looked around and saw that even if Wes had wanted to start a betting pool, it would have been hard. Most of the customers that were in here when the boys first walked in, were now gone. Well, that was interesting. Where had they gone? And why? "Hey Wes...weren't there more people in here before?"

"Ha. Ha. Very funny Wes."
Wes thought it was pretty funny. He thought he was pretty funny in general. It wasn't his fault some people couldn't take a joke sometimes. "I would have given you twenty percent," he said as if the bet had taken place. Wes was a reasonable guy. Twenty percent seemed like plenty big enough of a share.
"Hey Wes...weren't there more people in here before?"
He looked around the room as he approached the counter and set the CD down to buy it. He hadn't noticed it before, but there were less people in the store and he was betting that it wasn't just a coincidence. "I bet we have Rachel Berry to thank for that. I think she scared them away." He didn't blame them. Rachel could be way intense. He was glad he didn't have to see her everyday.
