"How about you Kurt?"
Kurt thought. He wasn't opposed to eating regular burgers, necessarily. But he knew that it wasn't the healthiest choice. And Kurt wanted to be healthy. "Give me a soy burger as well, please." Finn could grill, but it was about the only thing he could do.
"You know you could just put sunblock on instead of sitting under this umbrella right?"
Kurt laughed. How could Blaine think Kurt forgot the sunblock. "Oh, Blaine, honey," he said as he reached into his bag and pulled out the sunblock. "I brought that too. Can't be too careful." He knew Blaine probably wouldn't let him sit under the umbrella all day. And he did bring his swimsuit. But mostly he was just looking forward to seeing Blaine with his shirt off. He looked wonderful fully clothed, so Kurt could only imagine.
As for now though, Kurt finished setting up the umbrella and he put a towel down under it. He sat down on the towel and pulled the sunblock to him. He was really looking forward to today. It was likely to be a very fun day.

"So are you excited to watch the fireworks tonight Brittany? I think it would be so nice to have someone special to cuddle with While watching them. I think that would be my favorite part of the night. How about you?"
Brittany waved at Blaine and Kurt as they walked by. More of her friends were here. It was exciting. But Brittany was with her favorite person, and she wasn't about to leave her. She looked at Santana and smiled. It would be nice to have someone to cuddle with. Brittany most wanted to cuddle with Santana. She was the best person to do that with. Suddenly Brittany understood. Well, she thought she understood. Her eyes brightened up and her smile could have lit a whole little village. She was so happy Santana said that.
For once Brittany was not confused in the least. It was the only thing all day, all week or month for that matter, that she understood completely. "I think that would be my favorite part too." Her eyes sparkled as she looked at the dark haired girl beside her. She was so amazingly lucky to have her.

Blaine told Finn to make his burger medium well. He was glad Finn could do some kind of cooking. He had heard about the time Finn had tried to dry his sneaker with a George Foreman grill and wasn't surprised in the least when he found out Finn wasn't allowed in the kitchen at their house.
"Oh, Blaine, honey, I brought that too. Can't be too careful."
He laughed a little, not surprised in the least. Kurt would wear sunscreen and then sit under an umbrella all day. He smiled a little wider at the endearment. He loved that he was getting used to that. "I should have guessed," he said, smiling. He set down his bag and took off his shirt, throwing it on top of the bag. He spread out his own towel next to Kurt's and sat down on top of it. He reached into his bag and pulled out his own sunblock. "I brought some too. But the SPF is not as high as yours," he said, laughing a little as he squirted some out and began massaging it into his shoulders. He wondered how hard it would be to get Kurt out from under the umbrella and into the water...

"I should have guessed. I brought some too. But the SPF is not as high as yours."
Of course it wasn't. Kurt's porcelain skin burned so easily, he often had to buy the highest SPF that sunblock came in. Sometimes that wasn't even enough. He felt his skin burning through the sunblock. That was why he also brought the umbrella.
He smiled as Blaine spread out his towel and sat down next to him. Kurt was going to have fun today. He really hoped that Blaine would have fun too. As he watched Blaine started to take his shirt off. Oh dear lord, the boy was taking his shirt off. It was a magical sight. Blaine was shirtless, and he looked amazing. Kurt prayed he wasn't drooling. As he watched Blaine took some sunblock and started to rub it into his shoulder. Now Kurt was certain that he was drooling. He had the sexiest boyfriend in the world. Kurt quickly wiped his mouth just to be certain.
Kurt attempted to make conversation with Blaine, but all he really managed were a couple of inarticulate noises before he had to look away from embarrassment. Even though he looked away, he kept glancing back at the amazing boy beside him. Blaine made him feel like no other guy ever had.

Blaine rubbed in more lotion on his shoulders and the back of his neck. He had some color in his skin, but he didn't want to get burned. Looking like a lobster was not attractive and didn't seem like any fun at all. "Hey babe, could you get my back? I don't think you want to have a lobster for a boyfriend," he said, laughing a bit.
He turned towards Kurt to hand him the lotion, only to see him staring and blushing a little and generally looking embarrassed. Now what could be be embarrassed for? All he had done was taken off his - oh. Oh. So he was embarrassed about Blaine's lack of shirt...but they were going swimming. Was Kurt not ready to see that much skin? They had been dating since March... "Hey," he said, lowering his voice so only Kurt could hear, "Are you uncomfortable with this? Do you - do you want me to put my shirt back on?" If Kurt was too uncomfortable for this, then Blaine could make the sacrifice of wearing his shirt all day. He didn't want Kurt to be uncomfortable all day. This was supposed to be fun and worry free.

"Hey babe, could you get my back? I don't think you want to have a lobster for a boyfriend."
"Uhh..." Kurt stammered. He watched Blaine turn back towards him, but he couldn't make himself respond properly. He couldn't make his hand reach toward the bottle of sunblock Blaine was handing him. He wanted to. Kurt wanted to help Blaine put the block on his back. It was his duty as the boyfriend. He also really just wanted to touch Blaine's bare skin. He was a teenage boy, even if he was gay.
"Are you uncomfortable with this? Do you - do you want me to put my shirt back on?"
This snapped Kurt back to his senses. Blaine put his shirt back on? Oh no. That couldn't happen. Kurt finally managed a full sentence. "No," he said, his voice going unnaturally higher than his normal speaking timbre. "No, there's no need for that." He managed a small nervous smile as he took the sunblock from Blaine. He positioned himself behind Blaine and squirted some of the block into his hands. Then he started to massage it into Blaine's back, wondering if Blaine felt the same tingling sensation that he did when he touched his skin.

"No, No, there's no need for that."
Blaine smiled a little and turned a little so that his back was to the other boy. Kurt was really adorable when he was flustered. Well, he was adorable all the time really. Okay, a lot of the time. The other times were him being sexy or mad or sad and right now Blaine didn't not want to think about those last two emotions at all right now. "Okay," he said, chuckling a little. He was happy that Kurt didn't want him to put his shirt back on. And he knew that Kurt would tell him if he was uncomfortable. They had always been able to tell each other anything. Blaine hoped that that would never change.
He flinched a little at the coolness of the sunblock against his skin, but relaxed as it warmed up underneath Kurt's hands. He shivered slightly and sighed contently as his boyfriend rubbed in the lotion. This was nice. This was really nice. This summer was going to be the best summer of his life so far and it was all because of one Kurt Hummel. The one that he really, really wanted to kiss right now. He would wait until he was done rubbing in the sunblock first. Blaine could wait a few more minutes. And they didn't have to worry about any sort of dirty looks being thrown their way since they were surrounded by friends. He sighed again and smiled. He could wait a few more minutes.

"Okay."
Kurt was hyper aware of everything right now. He saw Blaine flinch when the cool sunblock hit his hot skin. Hot...skin.... Kurt shook his head. He had to not think about that. There was a time and place for that, Kurt Hummel. A time and place. He continued applying the sunblock until he had covered Blaine's back completely. There was still some on his hands, so he rubbed it into the back of Blaine's neck. That also had to be protected.
"Okay, there you go. All finished," he said, giving Blaine's shoulders a slight squeeze. He smiled at Blaine. God, this man had the perfect eyes. Well, everything was pretty much perfect. Kurt was starting to really look forward to this day. It was going to be perfect. A perfect day by the lake with his perfect boyfriend, and his (not so) perfect Glee club, watching perfect fireworks. Some might say that Kurt's expectations were too high. Kurt would say that those people just didn't know how to dream.

Finn began to grill the burgers with everyone's order in mind. It was true that Kurt didn't really like it when Finn cooked, to be fair to Kurt he did nearly nearly burn macaroni. Apparently that was a a difficult feat. But one thing Finn could do is grill! Burt had made it his purpose to teach Finn how to grill very well. "Who wants cheese?" Finn shouted out.
Puck walked up to his friends carrying a bag of chips and a case of soda. He looked over at the saucy girls in their Bikini's and smiled. Oh this was gonna be a fun day. "Whats going on people!?" The tossed his stuff on the table and threw off his shirt. Ah it was nice to be enjoying the summer time that was for sure. "Make mine well done with cheese!" He said as he passed Finn. Once he was about ten feet away from the lake he broke into a run and took a long jump into the water!

"Who wants cheese?"
"No cheese for me thanks," she said as she finished unpacking the food she had brought. She was happy that more of the club was arriving and it was always nice to see Blaine. She had great musical chemistry with him but most of all, he made Kurt happy. She went over to Finn to see if he needed any help. She knew that Finn wasn't the best at cooking. "Need some help?"
"Whats going on people!? Make mine well done with cheese!"
Rachel sighed and shook her head as Noah ran into the water. Boys. Honestly. She was all for a little fun, but Noah had barely said hi to the club. Maybe he would be more sociable when he got out of the water. She turned back to Finn to see if he needed any help with the burgers.

"Okay, there you go. All finished,"
Blaine smiled at Kurt as he finished rubbing in the sunblock. His touch had felt like electricity on his skin and it had just felt so good that he hadn't wanted it to end. He turned towards his boyfriend and took a few moments just to stare at him. He never got tired of just admiring the boy sitting next to him. "Thanks, babe," he said, leaning closer to Kurt and gently pressing his lips against his, kissing him. God, he could kiss this boy forever.
He sighed against the boy's lips and pulled back with a grin on his face. This was really going to be one of the best days ever. He couldn't imagine how this day could get any better. "I think I'm going to get in the water until the burgers are ready. Can I convince you to join me?" he asked, hopefully. He was pretty sure Kurt was going to say no, but it didn't hurt to ask. He had seen Puck arrive and jump into the water, so he wouldn't be by himself.

"Who wants cheese?"
Kurt thought about it, then decided he didn't want cheese on his. Cheese just added fat. It wasn't that he didn't like cheese. He did...some of the time. Just not today. "None for me either, thanks Finn."
Just then he heard Puck arrive. He glanced over, but then turned his attention back to Blaine. He liked Puck, but Puck is one of the main ones to make fun of him. And he used to throw Kurt into the dumpsters. Kurt forgave easily, or so he told himself. But some of his Alexander McQueen's still had stains. And there Puck goes, already in the water. Well, Kurt was going to stay on land. Less chance of getting burned.
"I think I'm going to get in the water until the burgers are ready. Can I convince you to join me?"
Kurt almost sighed when Blaine said that. Did he not just get finished saying....oh wait. He thought that. In that case he's better tell Blaine not to expect him in the water at all. "Blaine, honey," he started. "I love you, but there is no way you are getting me into that water." All the sunscreen in the world wouldn't protect Kurt's porcelain skin from turning pink, and then red. Kurt really didn't want to try and pull off the lobster look. Could he do it? Probably so. But he didn't want to.

Mercedes grinned and looked around at all her friends. The New Directions party was almost complete. Blaine was even here. "I definitely want some cheese on my burger, Finn," she said, smiling.
Sam still wasn't here, which made her sad. But maybe there was something going on with his family, and that's why he wasn't here. That was one thing she really liked about Sam. He loved his family more than anything else. That was good, you know...for the future.
But for now, she figured she could hang out with her best friend. Although he was hanging out with his boyfriend at the moment. She walked over under the umbrella anyway and smiled at the pair. "Hey! Do you guys mind if I hang out with you?" she asked. She knew both the boys were her friends and wouldn't mind. But she didn't want to interrupt them. She also didn't want to be a third wheel or anything.

"Blaine, honey, I love you, but there is no way you are getting me into that water."
Blaine grinned from ear to ear and laughed a little. He knew Kurt was going to put up some resistance about getting in the water. He was still pretty sure that he could coax him in though. "Come on babe. It will be fun. And it's a picnic at the lake. It kind of implies that we're going to get into the lake. You can't sit under an umbrella all day. I thought that's why you brought sunblock?" he asked as he squirted out some more of the sunblock and rubbed it in on his face. He didn't want Kurt to feel left out sitting up here under the umbrella by himself.
"Hey! Do you guys mind if I hang out with you?"
"Of course not," he said, smiling as Mercedes joined them underneath the umbrella. They had become closer ever since the girl had come to Dalton to interrogate Blaine after him and Kurt had first gotten together. "Now can you tell Kurt here that you're supposed to get in the water when you go to the lake? He think he's going to burn even with the crazy high spf sunblock he brought..." he said, finishing rubbing in his own sunblock. Maybe Mercedes could help him get Kurt in the water...

"Of course not. Now can you tell Kurt here that you're supposed to get in the water when you go to the lake? He think he's going to burn even with the crazy high spf sunblock he brought..."
Mercedes smiled at the Dalton boy. She was very happy the two of them were better friends. Ever since she randomly showed up at Dalton before Regionals. Well, she had to approve of the boy before she would accept that Kurt was dating him. And she did. She adored Blaine. He was kind and considerate. He treated Kurt well. She had never seen Kurt so happy. Of course right at this very moment, Kurt was being stubborn as usual.
Mercedes rolled her eyes at Kurt not going into the water.. Of course Kurt was resisting going into the water. He was safe from a sunburn under his umbrella. But Blaine was right. The lake was for swimming, not sitting all the way up the embankment like a cat who didn't want to get its paws wet. "Come on, Kurt. Don't be a stick in the mud." Mercedes thought she knew how to get Kurt into the water, but it would embarrass him completely. So, of course, she had to say it.
She leaned down close to Kurt and lowered her voice. She didn't have to completely embarrass him by letting Blaine hear what she was about to say. Of course if Blaine heard and got embarrassed as well, that would be pretty funny. "Come on, Kurt, don't you want to swim with Blaine? I mean, look at him. If I were you I wouldn't miss this chance," she whispered. She hoped that would do it. She wouldn't mind swimming with Kurt and Blaine either. She was here to have fun with all her friends, and that included Kurt in the water.
