Rylee McKade laced up her roller skates and glided off to the round rink of Rinky Dinks. She skated a few laps around the track. It wasn't too crowded, but then again it was still in the middle of the day. Once the evening time hit things would pick up. The skating rink was one of her favorite places. She didn't know why, but she always got her best ideas for writing and music s glided across the floor. She glanced to the middle of the rink where a karakoke and mic stand stood. She loved how the skating rink had a karaoke machine. Being in the spotlight was one of her favorite things, though she was very rarely the center of attention and had only been on the stage when one of the Larks needed flute or vocal backup. It wasn't that she wasn't talented, it was just that she preferred to let others shine. She was too shy for the spotlight. She had just skated out of the rink to sit and rest when she spotted a flyar on the wall. She rolled over to get a closer look. It read, Open Mic Talent Night Next Week All forms of talent welcome. show off your talents in music, dancing, poetry, creative skating, and more. Group, duet and solo performances welcome. All proceeds go to charity. Sign up below. Winner recieves free skating pass for three monts. Theme: "Anything is possible with imagination." Rylee smiled to herself, immediately excited. She didn't know wether she wanted to sing or play her flute. However, she didn't want to perform alone. She bit her lip. Two weeks may have seemed like a long time, but in performance terms, working to get a group together and coming up with a routine, that was no time at all. She frowned "This is not going to be easy." she said, her mind racing now trying to figure out who to perform with and what they could do. "Not easy at all..."

Brittany S. Pierce was busy at the wall, trying to put up a flyer. She didn't even notice the girl next to her, or that the girl was reading another flyer. She couldn't figure out how to get hers to stay up on the wall. She was only putting it up here because her mother told her it was the best way to get members. You want members on your roller skating dance team, advertise at the roller rink. She decided to humor her mother. She was doing just fine getting members. Finally, she remembered that her mother had given some tape. Brittany pulled at the tape and put it on the piece of paper in her hands. She actually managed to put it on the correct side of the paper, which was a feat because Santana was not there with her. Once she stuck the flyer to the wall, she stepped back to look at her handy work. It was beautiful. Purples and greens flowed throughout the flyer. A couple of the E's were backwards, but Brittany couldn't tell the difference. Love skating? Love dancing? Then you'll love: Brittany Susan Pierce's Roller Skating Dance Team! Sign up below: So far only one person had signed up. The name 'Blaine "Warbler" Anderson' could be seen on the first line. He wasn't the best dancer in the world, but with Brittany's help he had gotten better. So far they had only really gotten together once, but she was hoping for a lot more practices. This dance team was the best thing she had ever thought of. It was sure to be a complete and utter success! It combined her two favorite things: Dancing, and spending time with friends. She then heard a voice come from the girl beside her. "This is not going to be easy. Not easy at all..."Brittany blinked and looked at her. Was she looking at her flyer? She might be! Should Brittany say something to her? She didn't know the girl at all, but when had that stopped her in the past? umm...Never. She smiled and turned towards her. "Hi, do you wanna join my roller skating dance team? Just sign up there," she said as she pointed to the second line one the flyer, right below Blaine's name. Having three people was better than two. But now that she had another girl, it would be good to get another guy too. Maybe Mike Chang would join. But then maybe Santana wanted to join. Oh well, Brittany decided to deal with that when it came. Right now she would just concentrating on getting this girl to join.

Rylee nearly leapt out of herr skin when she heard the voice of the other girl. She had been so deep in thought she hadn't noticed the other girl putting up her flyer at all.
"Hi, do you wanna join my roller skating dance team? Just sign up there."
Rylee looked at the flyer. It was very bright and had a few E's that were backwards, but she thought that was charming. She noticed the name on the first line. Blaine "Warbler" Anderson. A Warbler? From Dalton, Crawford's brother school? Awesome!
Rylee smiled at the girl, taking a pen from her pocket."I'd love to!" She said, writing "Rylee 'Lark' McKade" on the second line. "I'm Rylee McKade. Nice to meet you."

"I'd love to! I'm Rylee McKade. Nice to meet you."
Brittany gasped and smiled widely. She clapped and practically jumped up and down. Another person was joining her dance team! She was so right about this idea. It was catching like wildfire. Well, maybe not wildfire. Brittany wasn't sure how fast wildfire caught. It was a disease, right? Well, she knew it wasn't a cat disease. That much she was sure of.
She watched Rylee put her name on the sign up sheet. It said 'Rylee "Lark" Mckade'. "It's nice to meet you too. I'm Brittany Susan Pierce. See? Like that," she said as she pointed to her name on her flyer. She looked a little closer at the name on the sheet. Lark? What did that mean? She had never heard of larks. Oh wait! now she knew. Someone once had mentioned them. They were some soft of ancient musical instrument. "Lark? So you play that weird, old, short guitar with four strings, right?" she asked innocently. She really didn't know, and it was clear that she wasn't making fun of the girl in anyway. A lot of things confused Brittany. She wished that she could understand things. But she just couldn't. And that was the way things were. And Brittany was happy with that. She had a happy life and she wouldn't change any of it.

"Lark? So you play that weird, old, short guitar with four strings, right?"
Rylee blinked. She could tell this girl wan't making fun of her, and wondered if she got things confused easily. Either way, she didn't mind. She same the girl a smile "Um...no. I think you're thinking of the Lute." she said. "A Lark is a type of bird that sings. I go to Crawford and 'The Larks' is the name of out Glee Club. Like 'The Warblers' from Dalton." she said, pointing to Blaine's name.

"Um...no. I think you're thinking of the Lute."
Oh, a Lute. Brittany thought that was the thing that made the pretty tune when the band girls played it. It was a silver stick. But she was clearly wrong. She was used to that. This girl, Rylee, was being really nice about it though. She liked her. She kind of looked at her funny, but so did everyone when they first met Brittany. She really didn't hold it against them.
"A Lark is a type of bird that sings. I go to Crawford and 'The Larks' is the name of out Glee Club. Like 'The Warblers' from Dalton."
Well, Brittany was learning all kinds of things today. A lark was a singing bird. She also thought it was neat that the Warblers named their club after Blaine's last name. It made sense. I mean, he was their lead singer. That and everyone seemed to like him. Maybe they were all brothers! Every member of the Warblers had the same last name. And their last name was "Warbler." That made sense too. She bet that was why. She wondered if it was that way with the Larks, or if the girls just liked it so much that they added it to their name. "I'm in a Glee Club, too," Brittany said, smiling. "New Directions from McKinley High."

"I'm in a Glee Club, too. New Directions from McKinley High."
Rylee's eyebrows raised. New Directions? Wow. "Really? That's cool." she said wit a smile "I've heard really good things about your Glee club. I even saw you guys perform once."
She looked at Brittany again with a smile, looking over her again. She blinked, vaguely recognizing her. She had a dance team. Now it all made sense. "Are you their main dancer? The pretty one that's always up front? You are an amazing dancer."

"Are you their main dancer? The pretty one that's always up front? You are an amazing dancer."
Brittany's eyes lit up when Rylee complimented her. Not only her dancing, but her looks. Well, it was true. Brittany was very pretty, and she was an amazing dancer. So it stood to reason that she was noticed. It helped that Mr. Schue was smart enough to showcase her abilities sometimes, especially at sectionals last year. "Yes, that's me!" she said enthusiastically. She always appreciated being recognized for her talent and looks.
She looked the girl over. She was probably a dancer. And if she wasn't, she would catch on pretty quickly. Brittany got distracted, which happened a lot, by a flyer on the wall, next to her sign-up sheet. An open mic talent show? Well, she didn't entirely understand what that was, but it had the word talent in it. And she knew what that meant. How could she not with as many times as Rachel Berry mentioned her own? "What's that all about?" she asked, pointing at the flyer. Maybe the girl knew something about it. Maybe she was putting it up while Brittany put her own up. Regardless, Rylee probably did understand more of it than Brittany. But it never bothered her that people understood more than her. That was just the way.

"Yes, that's me!"
Rylee brightened, glad she was right and hadn't made a fool of herself. It wouldn't have been the first time. "Great! Nice to meet you!" she said.
She noticed Brittney get distracted and followed her gaze to the flyer. She wondered if Brittney would be interested or if she could perform with her. Both questions were a bit answered by her next question.
"What's that all about?"
Rylee blinked, reading over the flyer one more time. "It's a talent concert that Rinky Dinks is having in a couple weeks. The winner wins free skating passes for a week." she explained

"It's a talent concert that Rinky Dinks is having in a couple weeks. The winner wins free skating passes for a week."
A talent concert? Wow. That was amazing. Brittany had more talent than everyone else in the building combined. With her direction the dance team was a shoe in. She couldn't wait. She wanted to sign up right now. Just before she rushed off to find out where to sign up she realized that she should probably consult the team. So far there were 3 members. She agreed. If Rylee agreed then it wouldn't matter what Blaine thought because majority ruled. She didn't want to go over his head like that, but she didn't have her phone and couldn't text him. Her phone was broken. It was dirty so she put it in the dish washer. Apparently that wasn't a good idea. She would just tell Kurt to tell Blaine. Or she could mention it to him on Fondue for Two. They were due to film that episode.
Brittany smiled, her smile lighting up the darkened roller rink. "I think our roller skating dance team should enter. What do you think?" she asked politely. She really hoped that Rylee agreed. It would be a great first performance for the group and build moral.

"I think our roller skating dance team should enter. What do you think?"
Rylee's face broke out into a smile. This was perfect. Not only would she not be singing alone, she would be on a team. She nodded "Definitely! I think that would be awesome!" she said "I'm sure between all of us and with your guidance we could win."

"Definitely! I think that would be awesome! I'm sure between all of us and with your guidance we could win."
Brittany smiled. Finally, she met someone who recognized her talent. And Rylee was right. With Brittany's guidance, they would win for sure. "I agree," said Brittany. "We're like, the most talented people here." She'd have to remember to tell Blaine about this. Maybe she would text him. Speaking of texting she would need to get Rylee's number to tell her when the practices are and things like that.
So far things were shaping up to be perfect in her little dance group. Brittany was so excited about where the group was going. They were going onto that rink and skating their asses off. If they got really good, maybe they could even be on tv or something. Brittany got slightly lost in her thoughts of her group being on Dancing with the Stars. "I'd dance with George Clooney..."

"I agree," said Brittany. "We're like, the most talented people here."
Rylee nodded. She looked around absently, unsure of the other people in the rink, who were usually there out of boredom anyway. It wasn't like Rinky Dinks stayed super busy. "By far." Rylee agreed as she saw a boy struggle to stand on his skates and fall the moment he rolled into the rink.
She was checking out the competition as Brittany seemed to go into her own world. It looked to Rylee like she did that a lot, but she didn't mind. It was cute in a little sister kinda way.
"I'd dance with George Clooney..."
Rylee shrugged "I'd rather dance with Josh Groban..." she said absently, not sure why they were talking about it at all. She wasn't even sure if Josh Groban could dance at all, bt that was okay because he was still awesome.

"I'd rather dance with Josh Groban..."
Josh Groban? Hadn't someone mentioned the fact that he came to Lima to watch Mr. Schue's weird A Capella man band thing? Brittany wasn't sure. She hadn't paid much attention during that time, because she wasn't in New Directions yet. She knew that Groban guy was cute though. Groban.... "His name kinda sounds like....grope or something...you know, the fruit." Brittany liked them a lot. She fed them to her cat, Lord Tubbington as well. Lord Tubbington ate anything he wanted. He was on Atkins, but it didn't appear to be working at the moment. She still had to get him extra-large t-shirts. But she didn't mind. He looked cute and she loved showing him off to people, in real life or on her wildly successful web show.

"His name kinda sounds like....grope or something...you know, the fruit."
Rylee blinked. Grope? A fruit? Obviously this girl wasn't too bright, but Rylee dismissed it. She was patient and was glad for it because it seemed she would need it with this girl. "Grope? You mean...grape right? That's okay I get my vowels mixed up sometimes too." she smiled, "So, when is the first practice of the team? We ave a lot to do in only two or three weeks."
