"One iced coffee and a cinnamon twist for Carl," a loud, chipper voice called out as the Carl, the customer, walked up and picked up his drink. The owner of the voice belonged to no other than Rachel Berry, glee captain, diva, and future Broadway star. These people will all remember the day when they were served coffee by her when she became famous, she was sure about it.
Now, Rachel had a very packed summer. There were rehearsals with New Directions for the joint concert with the Warblers and the competition in California. Rachel was also in the Lima Annual Talent Show. Along with all this, she still maintained her voice and dance lessons and had to find time to spend with her boyfriend, Finn, along with doing research on the place where she was inevitably going to make her dreams come true, New York City. The city that never sleeps. The Big Apple. Yep. Look out New York, Rachel Berry was headed your way! Right after she finished high school that is.
So, Rachel had decided to get a leg up on New York and get a job. She would have to get one in the big city, so it was good to go into it with some experience. And there was a coffee shop on every corner. So, one of those places would have to hire her. So, she had gotten a job at the Lima Bean. And it had been going okay so far. Yeah so she had to wear the stupid generic apron and hat that went along with the uniform (not something a future star would wear) and she was too short to reach some of the boxes in the back (not something a future star would have to do) and she got coffee orders mixed up sometimes (not something a future star would have to remember) but she was doing okay. She was learning as she went, making up little songs in her head to remember how to make certain coffees. She would have to write them down later. Maybe some coffee shops would want her to sing them for advertising or something!
Rachel grinned to herself and went about to help the next person in line, putting on a big 100-watt smile (you never knew who would come to get coffee and first impressions were everything). "Hello! Welcome to the Lima Bean! What can I get for you today?" Hopefully the order wouldn't be too confusing. She hated to make mistakes and hadn't memorized all the different coffees yet. Who knew there was so many different kinds?

Conner entered the shop. This town didn't seem like much. In fact this town wasn't anything at all. Freaking Lima, what kinda town is called Lima?! No one stopped in a town called Lima!!! You drove through freaking Lima! Perfect! No one in there right mind would dare to look for him here. He would get a nice day away from Amber, his parents, and Wes with his stupid freaking gavel!
What a crazy world it was. One day he was ridding high on the hog, playing bass and singing with the band, doing what he wanted, going where he wanted. But then the band mates had to leave one by one. Then he was left all alone. Left to just do what he could to fight the boredom. That's when the trouble got started. We may have done things that good people shouldn't have done. Maybe he fought the wrong people. Amber cried a lot. He didn't like that part...she'll never know though. Now he was stuck...in a prep school...with Wes...and his damned gavel.
"Hello! Welcome to the Lima Bean! What can I get for you today?"
Oh wow energy. She was this tinny little thing of energy! Wow this little girl was seemed to be full of...what was the word he was looking for? Spunk! She was fanatically trying her best to get the guys order before him right. But now she made a one hundred and eighty turn to this energetic happy ready to go lady. She was kinda awesome. "Umm yeah. Gimme something good."

"Umm yeah. Gimme something good."
Well this had certainly never happened before. She hadn't been working here that long, and everyone usually always knew what they wanted when they got to the counter. There were a lot of coffee drinkers in Lima, Ohio apparently. And she had never seen anyone like this guy in Lima. He had a sort of 'I don't care' type of look to him which vaguely reminded her of one Noah Puckerman, but he seemed a little different. And he was asking her what she thought was good.
Rachel didn't really drink coffee. It could increase the risk of cancer, could cause anxiety, could cause sleep problems, and it could stunt your growth (and she didn't need to be any shorter) and even stain your teeth (and she made her living off her smile and her voice). Something good. "Well, I don't really drink coffee. There's a really good green tea though. Its high in antioxidants, reduces the risk of heart disease, reduces cholesterol and even improves artery functions," she said grinning. People should really ask her her opinion more often. "And we have an iced one which is perfect for summer!" she said, grinning ear to ear. Rachel liked to be as healthy as possible, and people should follow her example. Maybe then people would stop harming all of the animals and take care of the bodies.

Well that surely was an earful. It was conformed to him that she was the little ball of compact energy or something like that. So many words, information, and enthusiasm from such a little body. Why in the world was she working here? She should be selling tickets or standing on the street trying to get to the store. Plus wasn't there a height requirement to work in a place like this? Like being able to reach the middle shelf? Still she was spouting out an awful lot. "Woah woah woah. Slow down little mama. That's a little more information then needed dontcha think?"

"Woah woah woah. Slow down little mama. That's a little more information then needed dontcha think?"
Little mama? What was that about? Okay she was short, but really? Who said things like that? "Well you asked for my opinion. I like to be well informed," she replied with a huff. She didn't understand why people didn't like to hear her opinions on things. She had a lot to say and people could learn from her.
"So did I manage to convince you to order the green tea?" she asked, adjusting her name tag (that had a gold star sticker on it) and them placing her hands on her hips.

"Well you asked for my opinion. I like to be well informed,"
Conner cocked an eyebrow and smirked. She was just a little firecracker. "Well I can tell Ms...Rachel Star?" He said trying to fish a name out of the little firecracker. True she had a name tag but it was better to get the name out of a person. He wasn't the most charming man in on this earth but he would think he would be able to get a name or two from a girl when he was out and about.
"So did I manage to convince you to order the green tea?"
"I don't know, if the tea is green then I wouldn't think it is the freshest there is." He said jokingly. "I don't think green tea would be the best thing to hydrate with in the hot summer sun."

"Well I can tell Ms...Rachel Star?"
Rachel Star? What was he - oh. It's because her nametag didn't have her last name. There had been the perfect amount of space after her name on the tag for her to add one of her signature gold stars after it. "It's Rachel Berry. Gold stars are kind of my thing. It's a metaphor for me being a star," she said like it was common knowledge and that she was informing him like it was something he forgot and not like it was something he didn't know. Soon, everyone would know who Rachel Berry was.
"I don't know, if the tea is green then I wouldn't think it is the freshest there is. I don't think green tea would be the best thing to hydrate with in the hot summer sun."
"Green tea is organic and lowers the risk of cancer, promotes weight loss, boots your immune system, reduces tooth decay, helps fend off infections, reduces and prevents acne, and prevents wrinkles. And like I said, we have an iced green tea for the summer time. Not only is it incredibly tasty, it also makes you feel good because you're being healthy while drinking it," she said, rambling on, still with a show smile on her face. She was trying to make a sale after all.

"It's Rachel Berry. Gold stars are kind of my thing. It's a metaphor for me being a star,"
"Ah Rachel Berry it is then." He said with a smirk. A star eh? So this Rachel Berry was a star was she? Well she doesn't look like she fits in at this coffee shop anyway. "A star huh? What kind of star are you?" He asked wishing to know more about this miss Berry.
"Green tea is organic and lowers the risk of cancer, promotes weight loss, boots your immune system, reduces tooth decay, helps fend off infections, reduces and prevents acne, and prevents wrinkles. And like I said, we have an iced green tea for the summer time. Not only is it incredibly tasty, it also makes you feel good because you're being healthy while drinking it,"
"Hmmm I see. That sounds alright I guess, I guess it can be good for me...Wait! Are you saying I'm unhealthy?" He lifted his shirt and pointed at his very tight abs. "Cause I think I'm doing pretty good myself."

"Ah Rachel Berry it is then. A star huh? What kind of star are you?"
What kind of star was she? Only the biggest and brightest! Just, no one had discovered that yet. "I'm a performer. Singing, dancing, acting, all of it. One day my name will be up in the lights of a marquee on Broadway and Lima, Ohio will be a side note in my best-selling autobiography," she said confidently. She knew in her heart that all of her big Broadway dreams would someday come true. Going to New York, competing in Nationals and performing on a Broadway stage had just confirmed that.
"Hmmm I see. That sounds alright I guess, I guess it can be good for me...Wait! Are you saying I'm unhealthy? Cause I think I'm doing pretty good myself."
Rachel nodded as she put in the order on the register screen. She looked up and saw the guy lifting up his shirt and showing off his abs. She rolled her eyes a little. Yeah, the abs were nice, but there was so much more to being healthy. Besides, she had seen her share of abs between Sam, Mike and even Noah Puckerman. She didn't need a guy to have abs, Finn didn't, but that was perfectly fine. He would probably look a little funny if he had them anyways. She didn't need a guy to have abs to like them. "No, I'm not saying that at all. I'm sure you're plenty healthy. I'm sure you exercise everyday and eat healthy and everything," she said smiling. She wasn't sure why this guy had the need to stand here and talk with her, but people behind him were starting to get irritable. She needed to get him his order so that she could help the next customer.

Conner cocked an eyebrow and smirked. So this little one was a triple threat. so could sing, dance, and act! Then what was she doing working at a coffee shop? Maybe no one was aware of her talent just yet. She was young so he guessed he really didn't get a chance to prove herself here in Lima. A real shame. "Oh really, then tell me Ms. Berry what have you preformed?"
"No, I'm not saying that at all. I'm sure you're plenty healthy. I'm sure you exercise everyday and eat healthy and everything,"
"Well that's good to know. You don't get fit like this with potato chips and long days on the couch." The man tapped behind him tapped him on the shoulder.
"Excuse me sir but we would all like to get your order."
Conner held up one finger to Rachel. "Hold on one second." He then turned and faced the man who tapped him on the shoulder. "Back up! I'm talking the talent!" He then turned back to Rachel. "Gimme one of those things you were talking about."

"Oh really, then tell me Ms. Berry what have you preformed?"
What had she performed? Ah, so another soul who had yet to hear about the awesomeness that was her talent. "I won my first dance competition at 3 months old and my first singing competition at 8 months old and I've continued to win other competitions since then. I'm also the star of our glee club, New Directions. We went to Nationals this year in New York City!" she said, grinning. She was very proud of all she had accomplished over the years.
"Well that's good to know. You don't get fit like this with potato chips and long days on the couch."
She nodded her head in agreement. "I agree. A good good exercise routine and a healthy diet benefits anyone. I wake up at 6 am everyday, have a protein shake with banana and flax-seed oil, and by 6:10 I'm on the elliptical," she said, smiling. She was very proud of her routine in the mornings. It left her feeling refreshed and energized and ready to start her day no matter what it threw at her.
"Excuse me sir but we would all like to get your order."
"Hold on one second. Back up! I'm talking the talent! Gimme one of those things you were talking about."
Rachel's eyes widened at the scene playing out in front of her. What was this guy doing? Was he always like this? She nodded and put in his order. "That will be 3.50," she said as she pulled out a cup for his drink. "Are you always this sure of yourself around other people or is it just me?" she asked, laughing a little. She liked confidence in a guy. Jesse and Noah were very confident. Finn had his moments where he was a real leader and inspiring, but he had a lot of self-confidence issues as well. He just needed to believe in himself and he would be able to accomplish so much. He didn't have as much drive and ambition as she did. but she would do whatever she could to help him out.

Conner Cocked an eyebrow. "Three month? Are you sure it was really dancing because most three month old's cant walk. In fact most babies don't walk until the are around six months old. And I'm sorry I can truly say I've never heard of the New Directions." He shrugged and smiled politely.
"I agree. A good good exercise routine and a healthy diet benefits anyone. I wake up at 6 am everyday, have a protein shake with banana and flax-seed oil, and by 6:10 I'm on the elliptical,"
Conner nodded slightly admiring the girls hard work. It was rare to meet someone that would wake up early just to work out. "Well that's good. If your a singer you might want to pick up situps. The are good for you lungs and the prevent you from having a pot belly." He said patting his own stomach.
"That will be 3.50, Are you always this sure of yourself around other people or is it just me?"
Conner put ten dollars down and smirked. "I'm always this confident."
