New York had been amazing. More than amazing. It had been like a dream. But that wasn't right, because if it was, New Directions would have won Nationals and had taken home that first place trophy. Maybe the trip had been more like an awakening. An affirmation that it was that that city where she truly belonged. A city that understood her and held all of her dreams in the palm of its hand. It was something Lima, Ohio had never and would never be able to accomplish. New York made her feel more alive. Made her feel like anything was possible as long as she had that city as her backdrop. During that trip she had flown on a plane for the first time in her life, seen landmarks like Times Square and Central Park, been on a romantic date where she had eaten at Sardi's and met Patti Lupone. She had also eaten breakfast at Tiffany's with one of her best friends and then sang on stage at the Gershwin Theater. The only way the trip could have gone any better would be if they had won the competition or even made it in the top ten. But most importantly, the fact was that Rachel Berry would be in in New York permanently one day and would have her name up in lights. As Rachel stepped onto the stage of the April Rhodes Civic Pavilion, something she'd done countless of times, she couldn't help but compare it to the stage that she had sang on in New York. This stage looked so small now. She stood in silence for a few moments before closing her eyes and creating her own orchestra in her mind. She lost herself in the moment as she began to sing one of her favorite songs from her favorite movie. We travel single-oh Maybe we're lucky, but I don't know-- With them, Just let one kid fall down And seven mothers faint. I guess we're both happy, but maybe-- We ain't. People--people who need people Are the luckiest people in the world, We're children, needing other children And yet letting our grown-up pride Hide all the need inside, Acting more like children Than children.Rachel smiled to herself as she sang her song. Sometimes she just had the urge to sing something for herself. Not for a diva-off or a competition or an audition, but just for herself. And plus, she had always felt she had a huge personal connection to the character Fanny Brice. And not just because Barbara portrayed her in the movie. Now would she put this piece of music to the back of her mind to remember for later in case she needed to pull a song out for an audition or something? Yes, but that wasn't the point at the moment. Rachel moved slowly towards downstage as she finished the song. Lovers are very special people, They're the luckiest people In the world. With one person, one very special person A feeling deep in your soul Says you were half, Now you're whole. No more hunger and thirst But first be a person Who needs people. People who need people Are the luckiest people In the world...[OOC: So yeah. Post is long, but Rachel needed to post about NYC xD Also: LINK to the song if you want to listen ^^]

Quinn sat silently in the back of the auditorium, she could feel her heart pounding in her chest as she listened to Rachel sing. "Then again when does she not sing," she thought to herself. There she was on the stage, with her big dreams all coming true, and her big plans closer and closer to a reality, while Quinn had nothing.
Quinn who just two years ago was already on top of the world, had it all, had nothing. She listened as flashbacks of her perfect life flew by her, before glee, before the pregnancy, before she lost it all, before Rachel Berry was anything to her, and now it was all gone.
Once the music died down she looked up from the seats to see Rachel standing down stage, at that moment Quinn did not know whether to runaway from the face that was staring back at her or to applaud her for she knew once again she was flawless. So she sat there, unsure if she should even breathe looking at the girl who was everything she was not, and would never be.

Rachel looked across the auditorium, not expecting anyone to be there. How many times had she come into the auditorium and just sang when she was upset or feeling confused or just when she needed to rehearse? She couldn't even begin to think of the number.
So when she noticed a familiar blonde head of hair (even though it was shorter now). Quinn Fabray. Rachel had always admired her (but she would refuse to admit out loud of course). Quinn was the girl that everyone wanted to be. She was the prettiest girl in school, popular, and no one messed with her. So very much the opposite of herself, who used to get a slushie to the face on a daily basis.
Of course, now things were a little different. Quinn wasn't a cheerleader anymore (although her, Santana and Brittany had quit the Cheerios willingly this time) and as wasn't popular because of glee. But Quinn was still the prettiest girl in school. She had perfect hair and pretty eyes and a pretty nose and she was taller and skinnier than herself. Rachel was short, plain and average looking with a big nose. She had almost gotten a nose job to make her nose look like Quinn's, but had decided not too after Kurt's Barbaravention. She would just have to get used to the fact that she was never going to look like girls like Quinn.
Rachel stared at Quinn, unsure of what to say to the girl. Was she still mad at her for kissing Finn on stage at Nationals? She knew that a lot of the club was till upset about that. "Quinn. Uh, hey. I didn't see you there...Did you want to use the stage?" she asked, tucking some of her hair behind her ear a little nervously.

Quinn stood up from her seat, for some reason feeling as if she had gotten her hand caught in a cookie jar, quickly she brushed the feeling off.
Slowly Quinn walked up to the stairs that led her up the stage, watching as Rachel fidgeted with her hair. Once she was standing next to Rachel a thought came quickly to her mind the thought of shoving Rachel right off the stage, but quickly she dismissed it, thinking, "that would look so bad for her image."
So instead Quinn smiled the smile she had rehearsed her whole life, the smile she practiced over and over again. Walking a little closer to where Rachel stood she opened her mouth to speak. "So I guess once again you have won. Once again you have taken everything I worked so hard to keep, and all with a blink of your little eyes." Quinn continued to walk on the stage, talking to Rachel as she starred up to the spotlight that was beaming on the stage, illuminating the two of them. Quinn then began to continue her speech as if it was rehearsed in the hopes to have the opportunity to one day say it to Rachel Berry. "What is it about you Rachel? Why do you get what you want, you are just a selfish as I am, however you hide it better than I do. You do not allow anyone to stomp on your dreams and yet you are the one who has stomped all over mine, more then once."
At this Quinn walked close to Rachel leaving only a foot between the two. Looking at her searching for her thousands of answers to all the questions she had and finding no answers. Why do you get the fairytale?

Rachel stared at Quinn as the blonde made her way up onto the stage. She hadn't intentionally taken anything from Quinn. Well besides going after Finn...but right before they had broken up what she really wanted was just for Finn to be happy. She had even told him what sort of corsage to buy for Quinn for Prom, right down to what sort of flowers and even what color ribbon to get to match Quinn's eyes.
She had been ready to give up on Finn and love him from afar before Sue's sister's funeral. Rachel had been completely surprised when she had found out that Finn had broken up with Quinn afterwards.
"I never meant to hurt you, Quinn. I just - I guess I put these blinders on when it comes to going after what I want and I don't really think about how it's affecting the people around me," she said looking up at Quinn.
"It's probably the reason why I'm so bad at making friends actually. Before glee, there was no one that I could really say that about." Before glee club, Rachel had spent all her time working on her talent and taking vocal and dance lessons to help achieve her dream. She wasn't that good when it came to dealing with other people's emotions...

Quinn just looked at her, she instantly saw the flash of hurt in the eyes of her friend and enemy, and she knew what Rachel was saying was the truth, no matter how bad it hurt.
"This sucks. Was the only response Quinn could cleverly come up with walking to the end of the stage and setting down, kicking her legs as if she was a child. "I mean this really sucks." looking back up at Rachel, feeling a flood of emotion, choking back she swallowed hard.
Sighing Quinn stood up and walked once again closer to Rachel and held out her hand. "I won't give up on him Rachel, you have to understand that. Biting her lip she continued "But I will not manipulate him out of your relationship we will have a truce, and I will wait. One day you will leave here New York bound, you will leave everything about Lima behind you, and then he well realize that you are the fairytale, the one he could never have, but I will be his reality waiting for him. She knew what she was saying as she kept her hand extended, and she believed it with all her heart at least for the time being.
Secretly she also knew that there was no point in fighting Finn, he was fickle, yes, but when he knew what he wanted there was no stopping him, and right now whether she liked it or not he wanted Rachel. So she would call a truce and wait, after all patience is a virtue. She thought her hand still extended smiling.

Rachel remained standing watching as Quinn sat down on the edge of the stage. She felt bad for the girl, she really did. She had never thought of the girl not having anything. Quinn always seemed to have it all and was one of the girls that Rachel had always secretly wanted to be like. She knew now that it would never happen, but she knew that one day she would become a huge star and all of them would be jealous of all her fame and fortune and they would regret that they had ever made fun of her in high school.
She nodded at Quinn as the blonde approached her again, hating that what the girl said was also what Rachel had been thinking about in the back of her head. Finn would never follow her to a big city like New York. He was too much of a country boy. She couldn't really see him handing the hustle and bustle of New York City. "It's true. I don't expect Finn to go to New York after graduation. But that's his decision. And I'll be okay with whatever or whoever he chooses," she said with a frown, bringing her hand up to grasp Quinn's.
She didn't like the idea of Finn choosing Quinn over her, but if that's what he really wanted, then she wasn't going to stop him. What she really wanted was to see Finn happy. As long as she had New York and her career she would be okay...

Quinn finished the handshake and then dropped her hand. Looking at Rachel again she smiled, suddenly it felt as if the stage was closing in on her but she said nothing. "Well I imagine the gang is waiting for us in the room."
At that she turned to head out of the auditorium but before she left the stage she looked back at Rachel. By the way, you did great at nationals. And then without a glance back at the girl who changed everything for Quinn headed out of the auditorium, knowing that for now the two rivals had a truce.

Rachel nodded at Quinn. She was right. Glee club was about to start, and Rachel hated being late to anything. She always liked to be prepared for anything. This made it look like she was always trying to be right, and she sort of was, but why bother going and looking up information on something and not sharing it? She just didn't like to be caught off guard by anything...
She watched the blonde walk off the stage and smiled a little at the girl's compliment. Maybe not everyone was mad at her after all. "Thank you," she said quietly, watching Quinn exit the auditorium. She sighed a little, thinking about one day possibly having to leave Finn behind in Ohio as she left to fulfill her Manhattan Destiny, but she still had a while to enjoy being with him. Rachel took another look out at the empty auditorium as if to reassure herself, and the turned to gather her bag so that she could get to glee club. She was one of the captains of the club after all. Rachel then exited the auditorium, the choir room being her next destination.
