Summer was going pretty well so far. The Warblers had been gearing up for the summer competition in California and had several rehearsals. It wasn't so bad, but Blaine so happened to be best friends with Wes and David, who were both on the Warbler's council. They talked about the event a lot, and while Blaine wanted to have a great performance, he didn't care as much about the competitive side of it.
He had also been performing at a few theme parks for a summer job. It was fun getting to perform so often, but what he really wanted to do was spend more time with Kurt. Kurt had been working at his dad's garage over the summer, and working around both of their schedules to find time to see each other had gotten increasingly more difficult. Sure, they texted throughout the day and talked on the phone every night, but it wasn't the same.
And so, since he knew that Kurt wasn't working at Burt's shop today and Blaine had the day off at the last minute, he decided to surprise his boyfriend. This plan consisted of going to the Lima Mall and buying a bow tie that Kurt had seen and liked when they had been at the mall the other day. Blaine figured it was a small gesture to show that he had been thinking of him. Maybe they could get coffee or dinner later. Maybe even see a movie. He made a note to look up what was playing on his phone later.
Blaine parked his car and made his way into the store and over to the tie section. He knew how much Kurt loved his bow ties. Yep. This day was going to be pretty awesome.

Finn made his way around the clothing store. Two ties firmly gripped in his hands. He had to go tie shopping today because he was going to see a musical with Rachel later. Normally he would have worn his only good tie but it got a really bad stain on it and he thought that water and the George Foreman just wouldn't cut it this time. He would normally just ask Burt to borrow a tie but he was out of town and had looked his closet door so that plan was a no go.
One of the ties he had was a Looney Toons tie. He liked it, it had all of his favorite characters and it was colorful! The perfect tie for a musical. The other tie he had was white with black splotches all over it. It made Finn think of an ink blot test. The main thing he liked about it is that it looked like a tie that Jim Carrey wore in The Mask. Jim Carrey called it a power tie and if a tie can make you feel more powerful then it had to be good! Maybe he could wear it under is jersey or at a Glee compilation! Plus Jim Carrey looked good in that movie so it was a double win.
He really wished Kurt was in town so that he could ask for his opinion. Kurt was the best at this kind of stuff. As he was heading out of the tie section he noticed that Blaine was heading over. Blaine was a pretty sharp dressed guy, maybe he could help Finn out! Plus he was pretty cool and Kurt's Boyfriend so they could maybe hang for a bit.
Finn walked up to Blaine. "Hey Blaine." He said approaching him. "Can I ask you something?"

Blaine had just begun to start sorting through the various bow ties when he heard his name be called. The only people in Lima who would know him were Kurt, the New Directions and the Hudmel family as he liked to think of them. He was over at their house whenever he could. He didn't like to spend time at his house unless he had to.
"Hey Blaine. Can I ask you something?"
He smiled a little at the taller boy. Okay, so a lot of people were taller than he was, but that didn't mean he was short. He was average height. Everyone else was just really tall. Even Kurt was a few inches taller than he was. "Sure Finn. What can I do for you?"
Finn was one of the New Directions that Blaine knew the best. He was dating his brother after all. But there was more to it than that. There had been several times at Kurt's house when he and Finn would hang out and watch football, eat junk food and play video games (much to Kurt's dismay). But Blaine did only hang with Finn when Kurt was busy with something. It was really fun to hang out with the other boy even if he was a little slow in the thinking department sometimes.
He wondered what Finn could possibly be doing in this store and in the tie section. Maybe he got lost looking for the video games? Nah, that was more along the lines of something Brittany would do. Finn could be slow sometimes, but he wasn't stupid. Blaine looked down at the boys hands and saw that he was holding two ties. Oh boy. Did he want shopping advice? Well, this was certainly unexpected.

Blaine seemed happy to see him, but it really wasn't a surprise for Finn. They hung out all the time, mostly when Kurt was busy while Blaine was over. But he loved football and video games they also loved snacking on Kurt's tasty baked treats.
"Sure Finn. What can I do for you?"
Awesome! He knew Blaine was the right guy to ask, he could always count on Blaine...Well that and Blaine was the only person he knew here. Then it suddenly hit him; why was Blaine here? It couldn't be to see Kurt cause Kurt was out of town. He's pretty sure Kurt would have told Blaine about it. Oh well he must have been down in Lima for a good reason.
"So Rachel wants to go see a Musical soon and I need a new tie. So should I go with this one?" He held up the Loony Toons tie. "Or this one?" He held up the inkblot tie. "By the way why are you down here?"

"So Rachel wants to go see a Musical soon and I need a new tie. So should I go with this one? Or this one?"
Oh ok, that made sense. So Finn wasn't lost. He was there for a reason. It was nice that he wanted to buy a new tie to take Rachel out. But his tie choice was a little uh...interesting...
Looney Tunes or an ink blot tie? Really Finn? What was he like twelve? "Those are uh interesting choices. I personally wouldn't pick either one...why did you choose those two?" he asked, trying not to blatantly state what his opinion was on the ties like Kurt most likely would. It was a good thing he was here because if Kurt had seen either of these ties, they probably would have been burnt on site.
"By the way why are you down here?"
Blaine smiled a little, thinking of his brilliant idea. "I came to surprise Kurt. He saw a bow tie the other day that he liked so I decided to get it for him. I know he's not working at the shop today and I got off at the last minute so I thought it would be nice to see him today," he said, getting more excited to see his boyfriend.

"Those are uh interesting choices. I personally wouldn't pick either one...why did you choose those two?"
Finn smiled and held up the Loony Toons tie. "Well I liked this one cause it seems like its fun. Its very colorful." He then held up the ink blot tie. "This one is a power tie, ya know it makes ya feel powerful. Kurt says Black and white are the colors to wear when you cant find anything else to wear." Finn said with excitement.

Finn's excitement slipped away. "Umm He's out of town with Burt seeing family..." Finn felt bad telling Blaine, he seemed so excited to see Kurt. "I thought that you knew...I sure he'll love the tie though."

"Well I liked this one cause it seems like its fun. Its very colorful. This one is a power tie, ya know it makes ya feel powerful. Kurt says Black and white are the colors to wear when you cant find anything else to wear."
Right. Well that tie might match with Rachel if she decided to wear one of those animal sweaters Kurt kept telling him about. But no one wanted to see that. A tie like that was something kids gave their father's for father's day, hoping that their dad would actually wear them. And the other tie...ugh. Kurt might have said that black and white goes with anything, but Blaine was pretty sure that that tie was the exception to that rule.
"That's uh, interesting, Finn. But uh, maybe you should go with something simple like some stripes? What color suit are you going to wear?" He was sure both Rachel and Kurt would thank him for helping out Finn's lack of fashion sense. Blaine might not wear all the designer brands like Kurt did, but that didn't mean he didn't like them. He did have a subscription to Vogue magazine after all.
"Umm He's out of town with Burt seeing family...I thought that you knew...I sure he'll love the tie though."
What? Kurt wasn't there at all? But he had planned the day for them...okay yeah so most of it was them getting coffee and hanging out and possibly making out later, but still. It was going to be the two of them spending time together. And he was even going to get him the bow tie he wanted...He ran the tie through his fingers and sighed sadly. This was what he got for trying to surprise his boyfriend. "Oh...I didn't know that...I guess he didn't tell me because he still thought I had to work today...so uh. I guess I made the drive for nothing..." he said sighing a little, looking down at the tie in his hands. This sucked. Now he was going to have to drive the two hours back to Westerville. He wondered if Wes and David were busy today...

"That's uh, interesting, Finn. But uh, maybe you should go with something simple like some stripes? What color suit are you going to wear?"
"Stripes? Like the one you wear with your uniform?" Finn smirked at the idea of himself in the Dalton uniform. "Yeah that could work." He only really had one suite so he only had one color to work with, but Blaine was good he could really help him. "Well I only have the suit that used to be my dads and its a black one." He felt alittle down thinking about his dad but it was only a momentary feeling.
"Oh...I didn't know that...I guess he didn't tell me because he still thought I had to work today...so uh. I guess I made the drive for nothing..."
He was down Finn thought this would happen. He had to find a way to cheer him up, a sad Blaine aint really a good Blaine. He nudged Blaine's shoulder. "It wasn't a waist man! You and I can hang out!" He smiled. " I know I'm not your boy friend but he can still have a good time! There is a sports restaurant in the bar and they have a karaoke thing going on tonight! We could totally rock it!"

"Stripes? Like the one you wear with your uniform? Yeah that could work."
"Yeah, sort of. But Not that exact tie. That tie doesn't exactly go with a lot of suits that well. It goes great with those blazers though because the colors are matched exactly," he said, thinking over the familiar uniform he had to wear every day. He liked wearing the uniform, but they weren't for everyone. Namely, Kurt. Kurt liked to express himself through his clothing and when he couldn't wear what he wanted to every day, he had begun to feel a little smothered. It was another reason why Kurt belonged at McKinley High.
"Well I only have the suit that used to be my dads and its a black one."
Wow, he only had one suit? Blaine had at least five in his closet. That and Finn's suit wasn't even his own. It had been his father's. But, Finn hadn't been raised by parents that went to a country club or boring parties that served food that he had never heard of. Carole had raised Finn by herself which was just incredible. She was truly an amazing woman and Blaine loved getting the chance to talk with her for a little bit when she was over at the Hudmel house. Blaine often wished that he could have a family as warm and inviting as Kurt's family. It might be one of the many reasons (most of them being about Kurt) why he liked to hang out at their house so often. "Okay. Well, any color really can go with black. What's your favorite color?" he asked, looking through a few ties, already picking out ones that might work with Finn's suit.
"It wasn't a waste man! You and I can hang out! I know I'm not your boyfriend but he can still have a good time! There is a sports restaurant in the bar and they have a karaoke thing going on tonight! We could totally rock it!"
Blaine shrugged and sighed a little. "I don't know. I wouldn't want to intrude on any other plans you had for today..." he said, his words trailing off as he looked down at the ties. Although, he did like the food they served at sports bars and Kurt wouldn't be there to try to guilt him into eating healthier. And Blaine did like karaoke...

"Yeah, sort of. But Not that exact tie. That tie doesn't exactly go with a lot of suits that well. It goes great with those blazers though because the colors are matched exactly,"
Finn nodded. That made since, it looked really good for that outfit cause it was made for that out fit. Guess that's what you get a prep school after all. So that idea was out the window but it looked like Blaine still had an idea or two.
"Okay. Well, any color really can go with black. What's your favorite color?"
Well that was good to know. Finn watched Blaine shuffle through the ties trying to find a good selection for Finn. It was nice to know he cared. "Well, I do love the color blue." Finn said. "But I'm also pretty found of the color red." He really did like those colors, hopefully they would look good so everything would be perfect for Rachel's musical.
"I don't know. I wouldn't want to intrude on any other plans you had for today..."
Finn laughed alittle and held up his two ties. "This is all I really had planed for the day! And I really wouldn't have invited you if I did." He chuckled. "Come on man, Rachel is out with Mercedes and Kurt is out with his dad. Sounds like the perfect time to have some hang out with a buddy!" He nudged his shoulder again. "Plus it will be a good way to get our minds off of the boyfriend and girlfriend."

"Well, I do love the color blue. But I'm also pretty fond of the color red."
Blaine nodded and looked over at Finn, imagining him in a black suit so that he could figure out what color tie would go best. "Blue, I think," he said, pulling out a couple of blue ties for Finn to choose from. "One of these should work," he said, looking up at the taller boy.
"This is all I really had planed for the day! And I really wouldn't have invited you if I did. Come on man, Rachel is out with Mercedes and Kurt is out with his dad. Sounds like the perfect time to have some hang out with a buddy! Plus it will be a good way to get our minds off of the boyfriend and girlfriend."
He really didn't want to get his mind off of Kurt right now, but he supposed he should. If he didn't, then he would just be moping around all day, and no one wanted to be around that. Maybe Finn was right. "If you're sure," he said, sighing a little. This could be fun. "I do love some karaoke," he said, trying to smile a little.

"Blue, I think. One of these should work,"
Awesome! Now he had a tie he could use for the show! He was sure Rachel would really love it. Now all that was left was to pay and go get something to eat and sing some songs! "Thanks man, this is perfect!"
"If you're sure. I do love some karaoke."
Finn smirked. "Awesome, Just let me pay for these and we can go! Hope you have a favorite flavor for wings." Finn walked up to the counter and bought the blue tie and the inkblot tie. He then looked at Blaine. "Don't tell Kurt." He said with a wink. He walked out of the store. "Come on, lets get some grub!"

"Thanks man, this is perfect!"
"No problem Finn," he replied with a smirk, shaking his head a little. He briefly wondered what would have happened if he had not been there to help Finn. Would he have gotten the Looney Tunes tie and have had to deal with both Kurt and Rachel's comments about it? He was pretty sure they wouldn't have used restraint with their words and would have come right out and said what they thought of the tie.
"Awesome, Just let me pay for these and we can go! Hope you have a favorite flavor for wings."
"Of course I do," he said, chuckling a little as he picked up the bow tie for Kurt and went over to the register to pay for it. If he couldn't give it to him today, he would the next time he saw him. He paid for the tie and waited for Finn to finish checking out. He saw that he also bought the ink blot tie. He sighed inwardly and shook his head. A part of him hoped that Kurt saw the tie so he could tell Finn what he thought of it. Kurt commentary on clothing was hysterical and always amusing. Blaine was pretty sure that he would never get tired of hearing it. Especially because fashion trends were always changing.
"Don't tell Kurt. Come on, lets get some grub!"
"I won't tell him, but if he finds it, I'm going to pretend like I've never seen that tie before," he added, laughing a bit as he followed Finn out of the store. He did not want to be under scrutiny for allowing Finn to buy a tie that looked like it had ink splotches on it. Kurt would most likely give him a lecture about tie patterns and while he loved him, Blaine did not want to sit through that.

"Awesome lets go!"
Finn walked out with the small bag containing his ties. His goals for the day have been met and even better he gets to hang out with Blaine for a little while, plus he gets the chance to sing with him for a little bit. Come to think of it Rachel has sang with him and so was Kurt. Well now he wont be the odd man out. This time he to share the spot light with the Warbler super star!
They entered the restaurant with a greeting from the hostess. Finn told them to get a table for two and they were seated. Burt showed him this place after a game one night, it had good food, good music and always had a good game on the big screen. He watched a lot of good sports games with Burt here and this was the place where Burt wanted to buy Finn his first beer.
"Well this is the place, not to fancy but it works if you just wanna chill out! There wings are defiantly the best in town!"

"Well this is the place, not to fancy but it works if you just wanna chill out! There wings are defiantly the best in town!"
Blaine followed Finn to the restaurant. He was getting a little hungry. He originally had planned on getting lunch with Kurt or just making some sandwiches or something at the Hudmel house. Kurt made some awesome sandwiches. And ugh, he was thinking about Kurt again. He was tempted to text him right then, but decided against it. His boyfriend was visiting family. If Kurt wanted to text, Blaine was sure that he would text him.
The two boys were seated and Blaine began looking at the menu. "Well, Lima's not a very big town, so that's probably not a hard thing to do, but I'll take your word for it," he said, laughing a bit. Kurt would never have picked wings to eat. They were far too messy for his taste. He loved that Kurt wanted him to eat healthy, but every once and a while he just needed some fatty, unhealthy food.Which was why it was great that Blaine could eat junk food with Finn like this. "So, what do you usually get here?" he asked, still pondering over the menu.
