"I don't think she'll tell us voluntarily, but maybe we can convince her. As to who the boyfriend is...I honestly have no clue, If it was someone in Glee we'd know about it. The only single guys are Sam and Artie, and neither of them seem very likely. Although her friendship with Sam has grown, but that's to be expected after something like Prom."
Rachel nodded as she finished getting out what they needed for the pizza. She didn't want to pressure Mercedes into telling them who her boyfriend was, but she really wanted to know. That and she didn't understand why she wouldn't tell them. At their last diva sleepover, they were all single. And now, all three of them had boyfriends. It was definitely something worth celebrating.
"So if it's someone not in the glee club, then why would she be keeping them a secret?" she gasped a little as she had another thought, "What if it's someone we don't like? She could be in the middle of a star crossed love affair where they have to keep their love a secret because their friends don't see eye to eye with each other," she sighed, thinking of all of the star crossed love affairs in theatre and musicals. How she wished her life could be like that sometimes.

Kurt just looked at Rachel. Sometimes she forgot how insane the girl could be. This was real life. Not a West Side Story type musical. Of course, Rachel had a relationship like that before, when she was dating that Jesse St. James guy. Except instead of a happy ending like Maria, Rachel got turned into an omelet. This was why Kurt found it odd that Rachel wanted her life to be like that. Then again, it was Rachel. Therefore, it made perfect since. He decided to bring Rachel back to reality by telling her who Mercedes would have to be dating in order for a "star crossed lover" story to unfold in her life.
"Rachel, I really hope that Mercedes is not dating Azimio." Kurt shuddered at the very thought. Their girl had more sense than that. Kurt helped Rachel finish up the pizza, and then slid it into the oven. He set the timer and leaned on the counter. He watched Rachel as he let his comment slip into her mind.

"Rachel, I really hope that Mercedes is not dating Azimio."
Rachel scrunched up her nose at that thought. She didn't want to think of that. Ever. Azimio was one of the main tormentors at McKinley. She didn't want to think of one of her best friends dating him.
"You're probably right. But who could it be? And why wouldn't she tell us about it?" she asked as she helped Kurt get the pizza in the oven. All she wanted was for the three divas to be happy. She was ecstatic now that Kurt had a great guy like Blaine and she now had Finn back again. She just wanted to make sure that Mercedes was happy and that her boyfriend wasn't going to hurt her.

"You're probably right. But who could it be? And why wouldn't she tell us about it?"
"Why won't who tell you what?" Mercedes walked into the kitchen all dressed in her pajamas. Of course she knew exactly what they were talking about. They were talking about her and why she was being so secretive. But she couldn't tell them that she was dating Sam...could she? Mercedes really didn't want any more Glee drama. Every single couple in the glee club always experienced drama. People cheated on each other and used each other. And Mercedes just wasn't down for that. It wasn't her style. She wanted a normal relations with normal relationship drama. She didn't want everyone blowing it out of proportion.
For now she decided to wait and see if they just asked her right out. Then she would decide what to do. As for now she leaned on the counter and grabbed a snack. Dinner was canceled, so she was pretty hungry. Even hungry enough for that vegetarian pizza they had cooking in the oven. She had gotten used to all the healthy eating that went on while Kurt and Rachel were around. Both of them were health nuts.

"Why won't who tell you what?"
Rachel spun around towards the door where Mercedes was standing. Crap. How much of that had she heard? She wondered if she should come right out and ask Mercedes about this mysterious boyfriend or not. Mercedes probably wouldn't tell her anything. But she might tell Kurt...
She looked at Kurt before responding. "Uh, Finn. Finn won't tell me what song he's going to sing for the Lima Talent show we're auditioning for. It's really bugging me because I know with my extensive auditioning experience I could really help him," she said, smiling a little. She hadn't been lying, Finn really hadn't told her. But, that did not have anything to do with what Rachel and Kurt had been talking about. She hoped Mercedes would believe her little lie, but she doubted it. Plus, she wasn't sure how much of that conversation Mercedes had actually heard...

Well, Mercedes knew that wasn't true. Rachel had said "she." But she let it slide anyway. She was sure that Kurt and Rachel were talking about her. She was still undecided though. "Uh-huh," she answered, but didn't push it any farther. "Well, I'm sure he'll tell you eventually."
Whoa wait! There was a talent show in Lima...and she didn't know about it? Mercedes was the most talented person in this town. She was going to get a hot recording contract after all. Maybe the Lima talent show was a little to small to handle all the talent she had to offer. After all it didn't look like Kurt was entering either. She decided she would go and support Rachel and Finn anyway. New Directions always supported each other.

"Uh-huh. Well, I'm sure he'll tell you eventually."
Kurt could tell from the way the girl said "Uh-huh" that she didn't believe a word of Rachel's story. And who would? It was such a lame excuse. Everyone knew that if Rachel didn't know what Finn was singing, it was because Finn hadn't decided yet. And if he hadn't decided yet, then Rachel would just decide for him. Because that was her personality. Which was fine. But because of all that, Mercedes knew in an instant that the story was fake. That, and Rachel was a terrible liar. Kurt wished Rachel would have just waited an extra second, and Kurt would have told Mercedes something brilliant. Something like, they were trying to find out the real reason that Santana was dating Karofsky.
Of course Kurt knew the real answer to that inquiry. Karofsky was definitely gay. He had once forced a kiss on Kurt, although no one except Blaine knew that. And Kurt was fairly certain that Santana was a lesbian, but he was not in the business of outing people. So he kept that to himself. Well, he told Blaine. But he told Blaine everything, so that was to be expected.
For now Kurt just watched the exchange between the two girls. He would watch Rachel squirm for a little bit, before jumping in to her rescue.

"Uh-huh. Well, I'm sure he'll tell you eventually."
Okay. Mercedes said that, but sis she really believe her? Rachel didn't think so. And Kurt wasn't trying to help her at all. He had been talking about the same thing she was. How come he wasn't be looked at like he had done something wrong? Yeah, Rachel had made up that excuse at the last minute, (and she noticed Kurt didn't jump in to back up her story) but she wasn't lying. Finn really wouldn't tell her.
"I don't know. He says he wants it to be a 'surprise' or something. I just hope he doesn't go up and ruin his audition when I could have helped him," she said, shifting a little. She felt bad talking about her friend when she wasn't in the room, but she just really wanted to know that the girl was happy with her secret boyfriend. She was just trying to look after her friends.

Mercedes chuckled. That really did sound like Rachel. She always thought she knew everything. She would always offer "advice" to the other members of glee club, even when they didn't want it. Although, this probably wasn't Finn not wanting advice. The boy probably did want to keep it from her as a surprise. "Rachel, maybe he really does want it to be a surprise. Maybe he's gonna dedicate the song he's singing to you." She admitted that it would be incredibly sweet if Finn did that. Lord knows the two of them had some pretty hard times in the past. Also, if she kept the conversation on Rachel and Finn, she wouldn't have to talk about herself.

It was now that Kurt jumped in. "You know, I think Mercedes is right Rachel. Although I wouldn't think Finn was...aware enough to think of that." He tried to make her story sound a little more credible. Even though her story was true, it wasn't what they had been talking about. And Mercedes already knew that. But, she was too on her guard. They couldn't question her just yet. Kurt was sure, however, that he would be able to get Mercedes to tell them the truth. Even if he had to pull the best friend card.

"Rachel, maybe he really does want it to be a surprise. Maybe he's gonna dedicate the song he's singing to you."
Rachel thought about that with a smile on her face. She could picture it now: The Lima Community Center stage. Finn standing in a spotlight on stage, looking out upon a packed audience. He finds Rachel in the crowd, points at her, announces that this song is for his girlfriend, Rachel. And then he sings the most romantic song straight to her with tears in his eyes. It would be so romantic and dramatic.
She shook her head a little, shaking away that thought. She somehow doubted Finn would go to those lengths to dedicate a song to her. He had dedicated a few touchdowns to her during football games, but she didn't think he had ever dedicated a song to her. "Do you think so? That would be incredibly romantic," she said, sighing happily. "I've always wanted someone to dedicate a song to me like that."
"You know, I think Mercedes is right Rachel. Although I wouldn't think Finn was...aware enough to think of that."
Rachel laughed a little. Finn could be a little slow at times and things had to be explained to him sometimes, but that was all part of his charm. "A girl can dream," she said, laughing a little. She looked over at Kurt, wondering how they were going to go about getting Mercedes to talk about her mysterious boyfriend.

"A girl can dream."
Kurt looked back at Rachel, practically reading her mind. They really did have to talk about Mercedes's boyfriend. Rachel wouldn't be deterred. And Kurt was so curious, it almost hurt. He stepped forward to make the diva's little circle tighter. He thought it might make Mercedes a little more secure about spilling secrets. He glanced at Rachel again, wondering where to start. Rachel wasn't the best at keeping secrets. It was usually why she was the last to know things. But maybe if she swore not to tell.
He turned his attention back to his black best friend. He'd once told Coach Sylvester that the two of them "made a culture." He hoped that was still accurate and they could tell each other everything. He told her about Blaine. It was time to reciprocate. "Mercedes, Rachel and I would like to talk to you about something." If they just came out and said it, maybe she would tell them. Kurt almost couldn't stand it. "Who was your date with?"

"Mercedes, Rachel and I would like to talk to you about something. Who was your date with?"
Rachel almost sighed in relief. Finally, the question was out in the open. Maybe because Kurt had asked, Mercedes would be more inclined to answer. People didn't always want to talk to Rachel about things. But Kurt and Mercedes had been best friends ever since they had all started glee club back in sophomore year. She was sure to tell Kurt right? Right?
"We just want to know that you're happy and this guy's treating you right," she said, hoping Mercedes would tell the other two divas who her date was with. "You're not dating Azimio are you? Because that would be awful. Unless it's actually true, then you know, maybe he's actually a nice guy underneath that tough exterior." She highly doubted it. But, if Mercedes was dating someone like him, then she would be willing to at least hear the girl out. She really, really hoped it wasn't him though.

Mercedes was about to answer, until she heard Rachel say "Azimio." Azimio? Really?! Was this girl crazy? Oh wait. It was Rachel. Yes, she was crazy. But she should know better. "Girl, if I ever date Azimio, I want you and Kurt to just kill me and put me out of my misery." She laughed. The things Rachel came up with were ridiculous. Especially the time when she thought that Kurt was cheating on Blaine with Sam. Oh, the insanity of Rachel.
Mercedes sighed. Maybe it was time to tell them though. She didn't want her friends worrying about her. But she promised Sam she wouldn't tell. And maybe she still wouldn't. They didn't say anything about their friends guessing. So if they guessed who she was dating then Mercedes couldn't be held accountable for telling them. Okay. She would do that. "Well..." she said slowly. "I'll give you a hint. You know him." Granted it wasn't much of a hint, but it was nothing a game of twenty questions couldn't help. She hoped that Kurt and Rachel got the clue.

"Girl, if I ever date Azimio, I want you and Kurt to just kill me and put me out of my misery."
Kurt laughed. "Done!" he said enthusiastically. Kurt always kept his word. Everyone in the room knew that Kurt would definitely full-fill his promise to Mercedes if she decided to date that baboon. Okay, maybe he wouldn't actually kill her. But he would definitely make her see the error of her ways.
"Well...I'll give you a hint. You know him."
They knew him? Well, that was kind of a surprise. The only people they really knew were in New Directions. But if it was one of the glee clubers, they were sure to have known about it by now. Unless it was someone they just knew about from school. Or it could be one of the Warblers! That had to be it. Kurt and Mercedes now both boyfriends that were Warblers. Kurt could hardly contain his excitement. They could go on double dates! He wondered which Warbler it could be. Maybe Jeff. Although that didn't seem very likely. It could be Thad he supposed. Kurt pondered who it could be. First he had to establish if it was a Warbler or not. "Is he a Warbler?" he asked, still excited about the prospect. If it wasn't, maybe he could convince her to dump said boyfriend and date a Warbler.
