Rachel was so excited. Kurt was coming over for a sleepover and they were going to have a ton of fun. It was sad that Mercedes couldn't make it though. Rachel had invited her, but the diva had said she had a date but wouldn't say who it was with. It was all very mysterious. She had even asked Kurt if he knew about this 'mysterious date' of hers, but even he didn't know. So their little get together had gone from three divas to two. But that was okay. The trio had all summer to hang out.
The brunette - having already changed into her pink pajamas that had different colors of stars on them (a slumber party was much more fun in pjs and more comfortable) - quickly scanned over her setup. Vegetarian pizza: check. Ice cream: in the freezer, check. Karaoke machine in case an impromptu urge to sing came up: check. CD's that consisted mostly of musical soundtracks: check. Stack of DVDs that consisted of romantic comedies and musicals: check. And she knew Kurt was bringing supplies for homemade face masks...Rachel smiled to herself as she admired her work. Yep. This was going to be fun. No boys (Kurt was an honorary girl) and no drama, just two divas having a fun night together to kick off the summer.
She heard the doorbell ring and rushed down stairs to answer the door before either of her dads had a chance to even get to the door.

Kurt walked up to the door buzzing with excitement! He hadn't had had a sleepover with a fellow diva since he had returned from Dalton. This night was soooo very over due! Now this night was to be with only two of the diva trio he had become part of in the past two years. Oh yes Ms. Rachel Berry would be there, but Ms. Mercedes Jones could not attend. He was glad girlfriend had a date but sad she wouldn't tell him anything about it! No matter! Tonight Ms. Rachel Berry and Kurt Hummel were going to have a blast!
Kurt reached the door and rang the door bell. He stood in a sassy poses when the door swung open.
"Why hello Ms. Rachel Berry."

Rachel grinned as she opened the door and saw one of her best friends standing there. "Kurt!" she said, giggling happily as she threw her arms around him, pulling him into a hug. "We're going to have so much fun!" she said, grabbing his hands and leading him into her house.
"I have all of the things necessary for a successful sleepover. Pizza (but don't worry it's vegetarian), ice cream, a compilation of some of our favorite musicals and movies. I also have my karaoke machine so we can have impromptu diva offs if we want," she said grinning, proud of her party planning.
"But first, you need to change into your pajamas. Then we can get this party started!" Rachel said with a laugh, having already changed into her pajamas.

"Kurt! We're going to have so much fun!"
Kurt hugged Rachel and let her pull him into her house. He was used to Rachel Berry by now and had expected this. He listened and smiled as Rachel went through her list of things she had planned for this party. It all sounded good. And then he heard:
"I also have my karaoke machine so we can have impromptu diva offs if we want."
Kurt smirked in the way that only Kurt could. Diva offs were much awaited competitions in the glee club. The first one was between himself and Rachel Berry. They were vying for the solo of Defying Gravity. Kurt had intentionally flubbed the high note to save his dad from harassing phone calls. Another diva off was between Rachel and Mercedes. They had been in a fight, but during the song they realized that singing together was fun and they were better friends than enemies. The point is a diva off between Rachel and Kurt was far overdue. Well, Rachel Berry, I think a rematch is in store for us. Wouldn't you say so?"
"But first, you need to change into your pajamas. Then we can get this party started!"
Kurt laughed and pulled his silk designer pjs out of his bag. He had packed them right on top, predicting that Rachel would tell him to change immediately. "Marc Jacobs," he explained to Rachel, showing her his pjs. Then he walked into the bathroom and changed. When he was finished he opened the door and leaned against the frame. "Better?"

"Well, Rachel Berry, I think a rematch is in store for us. Wouldn't you say so?"
Rachel grinned back at her friend. Oh yes. A rematch was definitely needed. Their voices sounded amazing together, and she was sure that she could find a song from the Broadway songbook for them to sing. Because in true diva off fashion, the song had to be Broadway. "You're on Kurt Hummel!" she said, laughing a bit. Him, Rachel and Mercedes where the divas of the club, but Rachel had been involved in both diva offs. She had won the first one and she loved Mercedes and the girl was amazing, but Rachel was pretty sure she would have won the second diva off as well if there had been a winner.
She smiled as the fashionista went into the bathroom to change. She didn't know who this Marc Jacobs was, but she was pretty sure he was one of those designers Kurt loved. She wondered if he made anything that had gold stars or animals on them. Maybe even pleated skirts.
"Better?"
She nodded, smiling as he came out of the bathroom. "Much. Now we can finally get this party started!" she said, clapping her hands and cheering a little. Rachel hadn't really had friends to have sleepovers with as a child, so she was way excited to be getting the chance to do so now.

"You're on Kurt Hummel!"
Kurt smiled and began to think about what they could sing. It would of course be from a Broadway show. It wasn't that Kurt thought all diva offs had to be from the Broadway songbook, but he knew that's how Rachel thought. Rachel liked to think of herself as the queen of Broadway. Kurt occasionally liked to think of her as Ms. Crazy-pants. But when she wasn't being crazy, she was kind of enjoyable to be around. After all Kurt wouldn't be here if he hated her. It was amazing to think about. When they first met, Kurt hadn't liked her at all. Almost no one liked her really. She was so self-centered and really only thought about herself. But then, what performer didn't? She was the best singer on the team and she knew it. So she would suggest things that were best for the team, they just happened to be the best for her as well.
Oh well, that wasn't the point of tonight. The point of tonight was to have a good time with one of his best friends. He only wished Mercedes could be here. With the three of them together, who knows what would happen? A three-way diva off would have been in store, that's for sure.
"Much. Now we can finally get this party started!"
Kurt grinned and clapped his hands. This was going to be fun. "Right. So what should we do first?"

Mercedes Jones parked her car in front of Rachel Berry's house. She sang out the last note of Aretha, and then shut off the engine. She got out of her car and started walking down the drive with her bag. Rachel and Kurt were going to be so surprised. Her date had to be rescheduled, that was why she was here...this early anyway. She would have shown up and surprised them regardless. She couldn't leave her two best divas to have a party without the main party diva.
Mercedes saw some major singing coming their way. She hoped the other two were ready for all she was bringing to the table. She was ready for action. And her yellow high top sneakers told everyone around her that. It was time to party. When Mercedes reached the door she knocked and waited for the divas to answer.

"Right. So what should we do first?"
Rachel grinned at her friend and started to head up towards her room. "Well, there's the pizza. We could listen to music or watch a movie - " she said, being but off by a knock on the door.
"Now who could that be?" she asked as she passed Kurt and made a beeline for the door once again. It couldn't be her neighbors again. They had had the basement soundproofed so she could practice.
She opened the door and was greeted with the smiling face of - "Mercedes!" she exclaimed, happy to see her friend. "What are you doing here? I thought you had a date!" Had her date gone that bad? Did they need to whip out the ice cream right now instead of the pizza? Maybe now Mercedes would tell them who this mysterious date had been with...

"Well, there's the pizza. We could listen to music or watch a movie -"
Kurt heard the knock on the door just as clearly as Rachel did. He watched as Rachel ran for the door...in her...pjs. She could have just let one of her dads get the door. But this was Rachel. It made sense for her he supposed. He sat down on a stool, crossed his legs and waited for the girl to return.
"Mercedes! What are you doing here? I thought you had a date!"
Mercedes?! Well, that was another story. Kurt uncrossed his legs and got up. He walked swiftly to the door and sure enough, Mercedes was there. He thought this girl had a date. Oh no. What if the date was a bust? Or what if she got stood up? That would be horrible. The poor girl. And he thought she was finally going to be as happy as he and Rachel were. "Mercedes. Do I need to go get the ice cream?" He gave his best friend a sympathetic look.

"Mercedes! What are you doing here? I thought you had a date!"
"Mercedes. Do I need to go get the ice cream?"
Mercedes just rolled her eyes. She could tell from the way that Rachel said "I thought you had a date," that she thought something went bad with it. Kurt wasn't even shy about it. He came right out and said that he thought something was wrong. But nothing was wrong. She would meet up with Sam another time. It was really hard for him now. His dad hadn't come into another job yet. Sam was still working and had to pick up another shift. He got shifts and took over shifts whenever he could. Of course she wasn't going to give Kurt and Rachel all of those details. "Relax guys. My date just got canceled. We rescheduled for another time. Besides I was going to come and surprise you when the date ended anyway."
She grinned as she entered Rachel's house. It had been too long since these three met for a sleep over. The last time, Kurt had been heart broken. They needed more get togethers like these. She didn't want to only get together when one of the trio needed their hearts mended. She wanted them all to get together and be happy. Like they were now. Of course she'd have to be careful. They would all want to know who her date had been.

"Mercedes. Do I need to go get the ice cream?"
"Relax guys. My date just got canceled. We rescheduled for another time. Besides I was going to come and surprise you when the date ended anyway."
Rachel sighed in relief. Well that was good. She didn't want to see Mercedes unhappy. She was happy that the girl had a date, but she didn't understand why her fellow diva was being so secretive about the whole thing. It seemed like Rachel was always the last to know everything. She was the last to know when Quinn was pregnant, the last to know Finn had slept with Santana, and the list went on. But, at least thins time, Kurt had no idea who Mercedes' mystery date was either. Maybe they would be able to coax her into at least giving them some hints about this mystery person.
"Oh. Well that's good. Good it was rescheduled I mean. It's not good that your date got canceled," she said a little awkwardly before giving Mercedes a hug. "I'm glad you're here! Now it can be a true diva sleepover!" she said, giggling a little. This was going to be fantastic. Their last sleepover before the Gap Attack had gone so well and she was sure that this one would be the same if not better.
"So come on in and get your pj's on! Kurt just got here as well so you haven't missed anything!"

Oh, Rachel Berry. Queen of the awkward backtracking statements. But it was part of her charm. And she had a point. It was good that Mercedes' date got rescheduled. One, so that she was here early. And two, so that they didn't have an unhappy diva on their hands. At every other diva sleep over, one or two of them had been depressed about a boy or a solo or something. It was rare that they had a completely drama free, fun filled diva party. But it looked like they would get that today!
Kurt watched as Rachel hugged Mercedes, then he got a hug of his own. Maybe Rachel and Kurt could use this time to figure out who Mercedes was dating. Maybe she would tell them on her own. They were her best friends, after all. He was sure she would tell them at this sleep over. Kurt pulled Mercedes in and put his arm around both girls, leading them out of the doorway. Then he closed the front door. "I'll go make the pizza, while you change," he said cheerfully to Mercedes.

Mercedes rolled her eyes and Rachel backpedaled her statement. Mercedes knew what she had meant without her explaining. But Rachel did sometimes mean things exactly how they sounded. So, it was good that she tried to explain things. She hugged Rachel and then was pulled into a Kurt hug. Kurt led her into the house and closed the door behind them both.
"I'll go make the pizza, while you change."
Mercedes watched as Kurt went to start work on the pizza. She put her bag on the floor and pulled out her pjs. When she looked at Rachel, she was suddenly afraid the girl might try to grill her about her near date with Sam. Of course Rachel didn't know it was with Sam. But she'd try and figure out who it was with. Mercedes decided to change so she could think of a plan to get out of explaining things to this pair. "I'll be right back!" she said, and then made her way into the bathroom to change.

"I'll go make the pizza, while you change."
"I'll be right back!"
Rachel sighed as she stood in the hallway. Was Mercedes on to her plan about finding out about her secret date? She hoped not. Maybe if she asked Kurt, they would both be able to find out who the secret someone was. They were both her friends. They were just concerned about their friend and wanted to make sure she was being treated right. And plus, wasn't it a part of a friend's job to approve or disapprove of the boyfriend?
She went into the kitchen with Kurt to help with the pizza. Kurt would agree with her right? They just wanted to look out for Mercedes. "So, who do you think this mysterious boyfriend is?" she said as she got out ingredients. "Do you think she will tell us why she's been keeping him a secret?" Rachel hated being out of the loop of things. But at least this time both she and Kurt were out of it. Maybe the two of them could change that...

"So, who do you think this mysterious boyfriend is? Do you think she will tell us why she's been keeping him a secret?"
Kurt preheated the oven and helped Rachel with the ingredients. He certainly hoped that Mercedes would confide in them. After all he had confided in her about Blaine before the rest of New Directions even had a clue to his relationship with the boy. And Rachel....well she couldn't really keep a secret, but maybe she would be able to if she wasn't the last to know. Poor girl... Maybe that was why she was the last to know everything. She couldn't keep her mouth closed to save her life. But then, neither could Mercedes. She was the one who let slip that Puck was the father of Quinn's baby during the first year they ever had glee club. She was one of the biggest gossips at the school.
Regardless, he and Rachel had to find out who this boyfriend is, and why she's not telling anyone. It was killing him. He just had to know. "I don't think she'll tell us voluntarily, but maybe we can convince her. As to who the boyfriend is...I honestly have no clue," he sighed. He could usually read people so well, but he'd gotten nothing from the girl. "If it was someone in Glee we'd know about it. The only single guys are Sam and Artie, and neither of them seem very likely. Although her friendship with Sam has grown, but that's to be expected after something like Prom."
